Nothing is missing. The first production run has a handful of known differences from the printed instructions, and these are the ones people hit most.
The full list is on the kit info page. Every one below links back to it.
The booklet asks for a 330 ohm resistor and you only have 100 ohm
Use the 100 ohm. We changed the resistor value during production to make the LEDs brighter, and the booklet was printed before the change. Nothing is missing and nothing is mislabelled. This is by far the most common one.
The booklet shows a dark blue Siren IC and yours is purple
Same block, different colour. Production shipped it purple. If you are hunting for a "blue block" in your case and cannot find one, it is the purple one.
The build calls for red wire blocks and you have black ones
Red and black wire blocks are electrically identical and completely interchangeable. The colours are there to help you keep track of a circuit, not because they do different things. Page 7 of the Learning Guide explains it. Use whichever ones you have.
The + and - on your Remote Control block look reversed
They are, on the words side. Some early Remote Control blocks in the Expansion Kit were printed with + and - the wrong way round on the face that has the words on it. The other face, the one with the schematic symbols, is the input and it is printed correctly. Go by that side.
Nothing is damaged and nothing is at risk. The block simply will not work wired the way the words tell you to.
Your Expansion Kit Night Light build does not work as printed
That build was redesigned. Production changes to the transistor meant the original circuit needed reworking, and the new version adds a switch. The printed booklet has the old one. Download the updated Night Light instructions and use those instead. The other Expansion Kit builds are unaffected.
Your motor feels loose in the build
Not a fault, and not something you have done wrong. On builds where the motor only attaches at one point it can feel wobbly. The fix is to give the base more support: add a few extra connection points around it. The kit info page shows the reinforced version of the Merry-Go-Round base as an example, and that same idea works on other builds.
We have improved this for later production runs, and the printed instructions will be updated with the sturdier version.
Your Fire Truck or Candy Dispenser manual looks wrong
Both of those had a revised manual. Look for "V2" on the front cover. If yours does not say V2, you have the superseded print and the steps will not line up. Download the current PDF from the Fire Truck resources page or the Mighty Machines resources page.
The Patrol Car siren does not work at step 53
Rotate the siren chip 180 degrees and try again. On some units it needs turning the other way round from how the step shows it. Everything after that step is unaffected. The Patrol Car resources page has the current PDF.
Something else that does not match?
The kit info page has the complete list, with photos of each one. If your problem is not on it, email info@sparkblocks.ca with your order number and a photo of the parts next to the page in the booklet. That photo usually answers it in one reply.
