Most other building bricks at the same scale work too. Kits include the electronics and enough bricks for the official builds, so most families end up using their own collection to go further.

Eight and up for a child building on their own, and the sweet spot is 8 to 12. Younger kids can join in with a grown-up reading the guide and helping with the fiddly connections. The components are small electronics rather than chunky preschool parts, so it is not a fit for the very young.

Not quite. The Fire Truck, Patrol Car and Walking Ant all move, so they need the battery from an Intro to Circuits Kit. The 3-in-1 Mighty Machines builds stay put on a table, so those also run from the Expansion Kit's USB-C power.

If something arrived broken, missing or faulty, that is a separate thing and it is always free, opened box or not.

No, none of them. There is nothing to install and nothing to pair. You charge the battery over USB-C and after that the only thing you do is snap blocks together. Flip a switch and current flows, turn the dial and the motor speeds up.
