Snap together your first working circuit in five minutes flat.

How it works

Every electronic component (battery, LED, motor, switch, sensor) lives inside a standard brick-compatible block. Snap blocks together and the circuit closes; pull them apart and it opens. The bricks do the wiring. No breadboards, no jumper wires, no soldering iron, no smoke.

Ages & difficulty

Designed for ages 8 and up, with a sweet spot for curious 8–12 year olds. Word-free assembly diagrams mean younger builders can work independently; a 24-page written Learning Guide gives older builders the deeper "why" behind every circuit. Available in English, French, and Spanish.

LEGO compatibility

SparkBlocks click directly onto LEGO bricks and all major compatible brick brands. You can integrate our circuit blocks into your existing creations; no adapters or special baseplates required.

Why no soldering

Soldering is great for production circuits. It's terrible for learning. When a connection won't work, learners need to see why. Because every component lives inside a block, a circuit either snaps together cleanly or it doesn't, and the failure point is right there in your hands.

"Screen Free Learning, compact and affordable"

We just got our Spark Blocks kit and just was so worth it. Our almost 7 year old was self motivated to start building the second he opened the box. no bribing required.

"A perfect family activity!"

The kit was easy to use, engaging, and I was floored at the diverse ways you could execute different designs. Even for a toddler, she was highly engaged in the building and circuit activation.

Frequently asked

What will my kids learn?

How circuits actually work. When your child connects a switch, a light block, and a battery, they're building a real working circuit. They can see why it works, not just watch it happen.

They also get a lot of practice failing. There's no one right build with SparkBlocks, so kids have to try things, watch them not work, and figure out why. That back-and-forth builds the same spatial thinking and cause-and-effect reasoning that show up later in math and engineering.

The Intro to Circuits Kit covers the basics, and the same blocks work in progressively more complex builds as kids get older. It doesn't have a ceiling.

Why is this Intro Kit an important place to start?

Because it's the foundation every other SparkBlocks kit builds on. The Intro Kit is where the rechargeable USB-C power block lives, along with the core circuit blocks, wires and connectors that everything else plugs into. The Expansion Kit and the Theme Builds are designed to extend it, not replace it, so this is the one kit you can't skip.

It's also built to be a genuine starting point, not a starter version. The power block is circuit-protected and kid-safe, the instructions are word-free so a builder can follow them without reading over a parent's shoulder, and the 24-page Learning Guide is there when they want to know why it works.

What ages is it for?

SparkBlocks are designed for ages 8 and up, with a sweet spot around 8-12 years old.

Younger builders (5-7) usually need a parent alongside them, though the picture-only instructions mean no reading is required. Older kids and adults enjoy them too.

Is the battery safe? How is it charged?

Yes. The Power Block is a sealed, circuit-protected USB-C rechargeable unit. It uses the same chemistry as a phone, with overcurrent and short-circuit protection built in. Charges with any USB-C cable.

Can my child break anything by connecting blocks incorrectly?

No. If blocks are connected the wrong way, the circuit simply won't work. Nothing gets damaged, and there's no safety risk.

SparkBlocks are designed for hands-on experimentation.

Do I need an app, computer, or Wi-Fi?

No. SparkBlocks are 100% screen-free. There's no WiFi, no Bluetooth, and no app required. Everything works right out of the box with a printed Learning Guide.

Are translated learning guides available?

Yes, we have some translations and are working on even more. English ships in the box; French, Spanish, and other Learning Guides are free downloads. Translated versions of the Assembly Instructions are also available on request.

How is it different from Snap Circuits?

Snap Circuits are great for following a set instruction book, but once you finish, there's not much else to build. SparkBlocks work with the LEGO-style bricks your kids already own, so the building never stops. Every block is also labeled with real engineering symbols, teaching actual circuit fundamentals.

Why does it cost more than other toys?

SparkBlocks aren't a typical STEM toy you use once and shelve. The Intro Kit includes real electronic components (rechargeable battery, motor, LEDs, speaker, switches) plus building bricks, with a printed Learning Guide, and instructions for 6 themed builds. That's a lot of kit, and a lot of teaching, in one box.

Also, because every block works with the LEGO-style bricks your family already has, one kit powers unlimited creations. There's no instruction book to "finish" and nothing to throw away. Many families tell us their kids come back to SparkBlocks for months, which is rare for a STEM kit at any price!

Add-on Theme Kits

Once the Intro Kit is up and running, Theme Kits give the same components new shapes to live in. A walking ant, a fire truck, a patrol car, a windmill.

    Circuit kits

My grandsons, age 9 and 11, liked this kit so much, I had to buy a second one, so each could have their own. Hope to get the expansion kit for Christmas.

That ride looks like it’s having a little too much fun! 😄 Thanks for uploading a video - can I share an idea? Try adding a potentiometer to the motor circuit: you can dial the speed down (or back up) until your passengers stay on board. The Learning Guide has an example of this, or the Merry-Go-Round, I think has it. Great build!

    More engagement than expected

When I bought the kit, I had expected that my 3-year old would think it is cool and let me build some things. But as we figured out what the different blocks did by going through the booklets, she came up with new ways to use the blocks and suggested all kinds of changes to the builds. If it was up to her, then every creation needs a buzzer. We also really enjoyed combining the blocks with the ones we already had.

    Love this kit

My grandson turned 5 years old yesterday and he apparently has been playing with this kit (gifted to him by us) most of the day.

He is delighted to have discovered how to use the different parts.

The reports from today via our daughter are :-

“ Also the (SparkBlocks) kit is a huge hit H*** has been on/off playing with it all day. He has lots of ideas”

“Good open ended toy with the novelty and excitement of powered lights and moving bits!”

Thank you for the implementation of an idea and making this kit available.

John, thank you for sharing! Reading your daughter's update about him playing with SparkBlocks all day gave us a big smile. Five-year-olds can be so honest - so cool that he kept coming back, discovering new parts, and dreaming up new ideas. And thanks for sharing the photo. There's something special about seeing a kid so focused on figuring things out for themselves. We hope he has many more afternoons of lights, motion, and wild inventions ahead of him. ⚡

    So cool!

This kit is amazing! It includes a speaker, LEDs, a two way LED( changes colors depending on the way it's placed) wires, some spare Lego parts, buttons and switches, etc.

    They were cool

"If only there was an engine to make the car go forward..."

Our kids took turns building with them for well over an hour! I think we'll need to order more. 🙂

Thanks Ken! 😄 Taking turns building for over an hour is a pretty strong sign the kits passed the test! And your kids are already thinking ahead: “how do we make the car move?” ⚡🚗 Have a look at the Fire Truck and the Patrol Car -- each uses a different mechanism to drive!
