8 and up. That is the age on every kit, and it is the age we mean.
The sweet spot is 8 to 12. That is where the printed builds land at about the right difficulty: hard enough to be worth finishing, not so hard that the box goes back on the shelf.
Younger builders
Plenty of families build together with a younger child, and it works well when a grown-up is doing it with them rather than nearby. Expect to handle the fiddly parts yourself. Some connections take a firm, specific push, the wire blocks are small, and a finished model does not survive being carried around at a run. A younger child who wants to hold the finished thing and play with it hard will be disappointed. A younger child who wants to sit and build it with you will have a good time.
We will not put a number under 8 on a box, because 8 is the honest one.
Older kids and adults
There is no upper end. The Expansion Kit gets into real circuit behaviour, with transistors, capacitors and resistors, and teenagers and adults get plenty out of it.
