I lost or broke a part. Can I get a replacement?

Email us and we will do our best to supply one, at a charge.

There is no spare parts shop on the website and we are not planning one, so this runs by email. Tell us what you need and we will tell you whether we have it and what it costs.

What to send

Email info@sparkblocks.ca, or use the contact form and choose "Product Question". Include:

  • Your order number, or which kit it came from
  • Which part, and how many. A photo of the empty slot in the case is the fastest way to name it if you are not sure what it is called
  • Your delivery address, so we can work out shipping

We reply with what we can supply and what it will cost, and if you want to go ahead we send you an invoice to pay.

What it costs

It depends on the part, and we will tell you before you commit to anything. Small parts like a wire block or an LED are inexpensive. A battery block or a motor costs more. Ask us and we will come back with the price and the postage, and you decide from there. Nothing is charged until you say yes.

Availability, honestly

Spares come out of the same stock we build kits from, so some parts are easy and some are not there on a given week. We will tell you which one you are dealing with rather than leaving you waiting.

Right now spares ship within North America only. If you are outside Canada and the United States, email us anyway and we will tell you what is possible, but please do not count on it yet.

Jumper wires

The loose Dupont jumper wires in the Expansion Kit are a consumable. They are the part we see fail most, and they fail with ordinary use rather than because anything went wrong.

We can supply them, at a charge, on the same email route as anything else.

It is also worth knowing that Dupont jumper wires are a standard electronics part, not something we make. Bulk packs of them are sold by most electronics and hobby suppliers online, usually for very little and often faster than we can get one to you. Plenty of families keep a pack in the box so a snapped wire never stops a build. Buy them from us if that suits you better. We would just rather you knew the option existed than found out later.

If it is not actually your fault

Two things are free, and neither one needs this article:

If you are not sure which of the three you have, email us and describe what happened. We would rather work it out with you than have you pay for something that is covered.

Spares rather than replacements

Same route. If you want a second Power Block so two builds can run at once, or an extra pair of motors, email us and we will quote it.

Did this answer it?

If not, tell us what is happening and include your order number if you have one. A photo or a short video gets you an answer in one reply instead of four.

We reply within 2 business days.
