If a block worked and then stopped working on its own, we replace it free.
One year from delivery on every consumer kit. Two years on the Smart Classroom Kit, because a classroom set gets used harder and by more hands.
You do not send the old part back. Tell us what happened, we send the replacement.
How to claim
Email info@sparkblocks.ca, or use the contact form and choose "Damaged or Missing Item". Include your order number and a short description of what the block does now compared to what it used to do. A photo helps. For a fault that comes and goes, a ten second video is worth more than a photo, because it shows us the moment it drops out.
Replacements go out on our weekly parts shipment.
What the warranty covers
A part that fails in normal use. That includes a motor that stops turning, an LED that stops lighting, a switch that stops making contact, a battery block that no longer holds a charge, and a block that has come apart at the seam on its own.
What it does not cover
This is what "some limits apply" means on the Smart Classroom Kit page, spelled out.
- Parts you have lost. We can often still help, but that is a paid route.
- Damage from misuse. Dropped hard, stood on, pulled apart with tools, soaked, or powered from something that is not a standard USB-C supply.
- Consumables. Jumper wires (the loose Dupont wires in the Expansion Kit) and the plain plastic bricks are wear items rather than components. Jumper wires in particular give out with use, and that is expected rather than a fault.
- Normal cosmetic wear. Scuffs and scratches on the housings.
Classroom wear and tear is covered. A block that has been through two years of rotation stations and has stopped working is exactly what the two year window is for.
Before you claim
Nine times out of ten a block that looks dead is a connection problem, and it takes a minute to rule out. Try the break-in and simplest-circuit test in My LED, motor or block isn't working first.
One exception worth knowing: a transistor block that has been wired backwards while the battery is charging can get hot and be permanently damaged. If that has happened, stop using that block and email us. See Can I damage the blocks by wiring them wrong?
If you ordered from the EU or the UK
Consumer law where you live gives you more than this published window. If you ordered from the EU or the UK sets out what is different.
